The Bay Area Human Resource Executives Council, an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management, was founded in 1980 and at that time was known as ASPA South Bay Chapter. BAHREC (Bay Area Human Resource Executives Council) was founded to meet the professional development needs of senior human resource managers in the San Francisco Bay Area. Today, although our membership has grown and evolved to meet ever-changing business needs, we remain true to our original mission.

BAHREC is unique among area human resource groups, being limited to senior human resource directors and vice presidents of employers in the San Francisco Bay area. We are a relatively small, informal chapter of about 100 members and our programming features monthly dinner meetings on the third Wednesday of each month at South Bay and Peninsula locations. Speakers and topics are geared toward the senior HR professional and focus on strategic issues, policy development and major workforce trends. Members are encouraged to share their knowledge and best practices with the membership at large through presentations, roundtable discussions and e-mail forums.

We invite qualified potential members to apply for membership. The first step is to complete a membership application, which may be downloaded from our website.

BAHREC is an affiliated chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management, and has earned Superior Merit Chapter designation for the past several years. While we encourage and promote SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) national membership, it is not a requirement for membership in BAHREC.
